Her Hired Story: Codie Cannon, Senior Associate at Sensiba

For four years, The Mom Project and Sensiba have joined forces to place 20 candidates, creating over $1.2 million in economic opportunities for moms, dads, and their allies. This partnership has facilitated numerous successful hires, including Codie Cannon, a Senior Associate (and mom of one!) making significant strides in her field.

With nearly six years of diverse experience, Codie excels in supporting the auditing, innovation management, and financial planning needs of venture capital clients. Her impressive career spans global roles at a prestigious Big 4 firm and the United States Air Force. Codie is a well-rounded professional, holding bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from Point Loma Nazarene University.

Beyond her professional achievements, Codie enjoys a fulfilling personal life in Knoxville, TN, where she loves exploring with her husband, son, and dog. She has a passion for discovering local bakeries and coffee shops, traveling to new destinations, and embarking on home renovation projects.

In our latest blog, we chatted with  Codie about her journey, her contributions to the industry, and the significant impact of The Mom Project and Sensiba’s partnership.

  1. How did you discover The Mom Project?
    I discovered The Mom Project through a friend while I was living in Japan.

  2. What was the application and job searching process like?
    Using The Mom Project platform for job searching and applications was incredibly straightforward and user-friendly compared to other platforms. The streamlined process made it much more enjoyable to submit applications for various positions.

  3. Can you describe the interview and hiring process?
    My hiring journey at Sensiba began with an initial phone screen with the HR manager, followed by two Zoom interviews with individuals at various levels, from Senior to Partner. My experience was somewhat unique, as I was first hired by Sensiba as a contract employee through The Mom Project for six months. I then transitioned to a W2 employee with Sensiba. Overall, the entire process was very smooth from start to finish.

  4. Tell us about your career journey. How long have you been at Sensiba?
    I began my career at Ernst & Young (EY) as an audit associate in 2018, where I worked for a year and a half before relocating to Japan. After settling in Japan, I spent two years in the finance department of the United States Air Force (USAF). Eventually, I discovered Sensiba through The Mom Project.

  5. What makes Sensiba a great place to work? What’s your favorite thing about Sensiba?
    Sensiba is a fantastic workplace because they genuinely care about their employees and go above and beyond to support families. I appreciate how they encourage balancing family time with fulfilling work commitments.

  6. What advice would you give to other moms interested in The Mom Project? 
    My advice to others is to take the leap! The Mom Project is an excellent resource, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support. Thanks to TMP, I found Sensiba, and it has positively transformed my life and my family’s life.
